Be An African

Image
"Kokloxɔ mekpeaŋʋ na koklo ooooooo". That is what we say in my language. The "chicken is never shy of its pen". No matter how old or wretched it looks, that's where the chicken will lay its head. Do not be deceive my brother, do not be deceive my sister. Dress like an African. Wear your clothes like a Ghanaian. When they ask you where you come from, be bold and say I am Ghanaian. It doesn't take anything away from you. Will your mother or father die if you do so? I doubt. Be an African, eat like an African. Stop eating junk food. Our forefathers ate and drink of calabash but they lived longer than this current generation. Indomie although delicious, is not our food and will not be. Akple kple fetri detsi is what I eat but I'm strong like gakpo. Be an African. When will you stop comparing your boyfriend or girlfriend to that little funky girl in the telenovelas? He or she can't be like him or her. He is an African. She is an African. Walk l...

The Race to the Golden Boot Award in the Major 5 Leagues.

Image
The 2018/19 season is gradually coming to an end. The race is on for the most prestigious golden shoe award in the five major leagues across Europe. Just as the league leaders are fighting for the first spot and some are fighting for the top four to participate in UEFA Champions league, the race for the golden boot winner is getting tough. In some of the leagues, the league winners are clear. In the Italian Series A, Juventus have already claimed the title. Far away in France, Paris Saint Germain have also ran away with the title. However, in England, it is not clear who will win it. A lot people are saying Manchester City will win it and others claiming Liverpool will emerge the champions for the first time over decades. Somewhere in Germany, Bayern Munich are battling with Borussia Dortmund. In La liga, there is little for Barcelona to do to become champions of the Spanish La Liga. Back to the race for the golden boot award, let's begin from England. 1. In England...

Ghanaians to Expect 12 more Days of Dumsor says Government

Image
The government says it will need 12 days to end the current power outages being experienced across the country. Ghanaians have in the last week been experiencing unannounced disruptions in electricity supply to their homes and offices, heightening fears of a return to the power crisis, popularly referred to as dumsor. But the government has explained it has had to shut down the power generating plants within the Tema enclave since Saturday to allow some on-going construction work to interconnect the West African Gas pipelines to Ghana Gas pipelines. The move, it said Monday, is to enable the transportation of surplus natural gas from Takoradi in the Western Region to Tema in Greater Accra to power the plants in the area in a bid to ensure affordable electricity for Ghanaians. “Our hope was to reduce to the barest minimum the disruptions of supply of energy to the good people of this country and we were hoping that you wouldn’t even know this work was going on but unfortunate...

Could This Be The End Of The Road For Kotoko In The CAFCC?

Image
Kumasi Asante Kotoko have their fate in their own hands after drawing 1-1 with Al Hilal on Sunday evening in the CAF Confederation Cup. Kotoko have to win the last match away at Zambia with Zesco United to ensure their qualification. The big question to ask is can Kotoko win away from home in the CAF Confederation Cup? Kotoko have won only a  match away in the Confederation Cup this season. That was the match against Cotonspot in Cameroon. In their first away game against Kariobangi Sharks of Kenya, Kotoko drew goalless. After which they traveled to Cotonspot and won 3-2. Moving on, Kotoko journeyed to Sudan to face Al Hilal and lost by a lone goal. Kotoko however redeemed themselves with a 2-1 win over Zesco United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Furthermore, Kotoko again lost to Nkana fc of Zambia by 3-1 and won the second leg 3-0. This is to say that Kumasi Asante Kotoko are not good travelers in the Confederation Cup this season. Nevertheless, all hope i...

8th March: Today In Sports History

Image
On this  day 8 March  2009 (Exactly  10 years ago ) The DR Congo beat Ghana 2-0 to win the inaugural African Nations Championship in Abidjan . The final - a repeat of their group B encounter - was settled by second half goals from Dioko Kaluyituka and Bedi Mbenza. On a pitch made slippery by pre-match rain, Kaluyituka gave the Congolese the lead after 46 minutes when his speculative header slipped past Ghana goalkeeper Philemon Maccarthy. Mbenza got the second goal 15 minutes from time when he controlled a cross from the left on his chest and gave Maccarthy no chance with a right-foot shot from inside the box. It was the first triumph for the Congolese in a continental competition since they defeated Zambia 2-0 in a replay of the 1974 Nations Cup final in Cairo. In the 1968 African Cup of Nations Championship hosted by Ethiopia, Ghana beat DR Congo at the group stages in Asmara by 3: 1 but when the two teams met in the finals in Addis Ababa, DR Congo beat Gh...

Ajax Startled Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and Knocked them out of the Champions League.

Image
Real Madrid's dismal run of form continued as Ajax won 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu to dump the Champions League holders out of the competition for the first time since 2014-15. After winning Europe's elite club tournament in three consecutive years under Zinedine Zidane, a tough first campaign since the French icon's departure was capped in remarkable fashion on Tuesday in a 5-3 aggregate loss. Madrid fell apart in the first half and saw their 2-1 first-leg lead overturned in the opening 20 minutes by goals from Hakim Ziyech and David Neres as Ajax ran riot. The irrepressible Dusan Tadic added another with a controversial second-half strike, leaving Madrid requiring three goals to stay in the competition, and although Marco Asensio got one back, a fourth home defeat in a row never looked in doubt as Lasse Schone made it four.

Jose Mourinho Reveals who actually sold Mo Salah

Image
Former Manchester United and Chelsea manager  Jose Mourinho says he "fell in love" with Mo Salah when he first watched him play at Basel and denies being the reason the Egyptian star left Stamford Bridge. Salah signed for Chelsea from Basel for around £15 million in 2014, but was loaned to Fiorentina after just one year with the Blues and eventually sold to Roma in 2016 for less than what they originally paid for the pacey winger. The 26-year-old has since signed for Liverpool for £34 million, scored a 38-game Premier League season goal-scoring record of 32 goals and helped the club to the 2017/18 Champions League final.   Mourinho's transfer policy has been criticised throughout his illustrious career, particularly over his unwillingness to play and develop young players, but the Portugese said Salah's departure in particular was outside of his control. "Let me start with Salah, because lots of things have been told that are not true...

Having helped Liverpool reach the Champions League final last season, the No.26 has started all but two Premier League games for the leaders this term. “As soon as the club came to me, it was a no-brainer for me – I want to stay here, so as soon as they put an offer on the table it was signed as quickly as that,” he told Liverpoolfc.com shortly after putting pen to paper. “It was a pretty easy contract for me and I’m sure for the club as well. We both agreed very quickly, that’s why it’s been done so quickly. “Getting to know the lads and working with all the staff at Melwood has been a pleasure.
