Image
Ghana Black Maidens showed no mercy to Finland as they beat them 3:1 in the second group match of the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup to progress to the quarter final of the competition. Finland started the game with a lot of pace considering they have lost their first group match to New Zealand by a lone goal. Finland knew they have their qualification in their own hands. They were determined to beat Ghana from the onset. However, the Black Maidens of Ghana showed them no mercy as Pokuaa Milot Abena puts Ghana ahead just six minutes into the first half. In the 13th minute, Pokuaa found Mukarama Abdulai with a long cross from the right flank, Abdulai made no mistake and headed it into the net past the Finland goalkeeper to make it two zero for Ghana. Finland were determined to qualify so their coach threw more attacking ladies into the match to change the pace of the game. The second half did not travel far as Inter Milan front man Mauro Icardi levelled for the away side through a penalty in the 47th minute. Former Chelsea star Oscar Wins First Chinese Super League Title

Image
Former Chelsea star Oscar has won his first Chinese Super League title with Shanghai SIPG to End Guangzhou dominance. Shanghai SIPG broke Guangzhou Evergrande's near-decade stranglehold on Chinese football on Wednesday, winning the Chinese Super League (CSL) for the first time. Fabio Cannavaro's failure to steer Evergrande to an eighth CSL crown in a row will see the Italian legend's future as coach thrown into doubt after a single campaign at the helm. In contrast, SIPG coach Vitor Pereira has achieved what his more famous predecessor Andre Villas-Boas could not, winning the club's first major trophy since its founding in 2005. SIPG, who have the expensive Brazilian duo of Oscar and Hulk, wrapped up the title with a game to spare thanks to a 2-1 victory over Beijing Renhe. Pereira, a former Porto coach last seen taking 1860 Munich into Germany’s third tier, praised the "spirit" of his side. "We broke seven years of titles of Guangzhou and ...

Boakye Yiadom's Red Star Belgrade Triumph Over Liverpool In The Champions League

Image
Red Star Belgrade blew Champions League Group C wide open and loosened Liverpool's grip on top spot after Milan Pavkov scored a first-half brace in a 2-0 win. The Ghana international did not play a part in the game through an injury. Liverpool went into the game hoping to open up a four-point gap at the summit before Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain faced each other later on Tuesday, but the visitors fell well short of expectations. In the opening 45 minutes, Red Star looked a class apart from the team which lost 4-0 at Anfield two weeks ago, as Pavkov netted twice in seven minutes to leave Jurgen Klopp's side trailing by two at half-time. The Premier League outfit's attempts to claw things back saw them hit the frame of the goal twice in the second half through Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah, but they were unable to make their pressure tell and Red Star held on to their first win in the group stage.

Ayew and Schlupp Fell To The Sword As Chelsea Beat Crystal Palace In The Premier League.

Image
It was not a good day at the office for Ghana's Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp on Sunday as their Crystal Palace side fell to Chelsea in the English Premier League. The duo made second half appearances for The Eagles but their introduction yielded little as The Blues ran out 3-1 victors at Stamford Bridge. Spain striker Alvaro Morata opened the scoring for home side Chelsea on 32 minutes before Andros Townsend levelled the score for Palace eight minutes after the interval. Morata then restored The Blues' lead in the 65th minute, with Pedro Rodriguez sealing the win with a cool effort five minutes later. In dire need of goals, Palace boss Roy Hodgson threw on striker Ayew a minute after Chelsea's third goal, before midfielder Schlupp joined the action nine minutes later. Their presence could only prevent Maurizio Sarri's men from finding a fourth goal as The Eagles failed to register any more goals of their own to reduce the deficit. The result has se...
